Does my siding need replacing, or just repair?
Short answer
It depends on what the siding is protecting, not on how the siding looks. Cladding is the first layer of a wall, not the whole wall. Behind it there is a drainage plane, and behind that, sheathing and framing. Damaged boards over a sound wall are worth replacing board by board. Damaged boards over a wall that has been taking water for years are the cheapest part of the repair you now need.
The honest answer is that nobody can tell you from the driveway. We open a section, look at what is behind it, and tell you which of the two you have before we quote the work.
What happens to the water?
Short answer
This is the question the whole trade turns on. Siding sheds most of the water and lets some through, which is expected and is why a wall is built in layers. The drainage plane behind the cladding carries what gets past it back out, and the flashing at every opening, joint and termination decides whether it leaves the wall or sits in it.
Flashing is where siding jobs fail, and it is invisible the day the job finishes and for about three years after. We detail it deliberately and we will show you the details before we close the wall up.

Do you replace windows at the same time?
Short answer
Yes, and where the budget allows it is the right order of operations. A window is a hole in the wall with flashing around it, so a window replaced after new siding means cutting back into a wall that was just detailed. Done together, the window flashing and the drainage plane are one continuous system installed once.
Windows carry a one year workmanship warranty rather than the five year structural term, because the unit itself is covered by the manufacturer.
What drives the cost of a siding job?
Short answer
Wall area and the number of openings, first. Then the condition of what is behind the cladding, which is the one nobody can price from a photograph and the reason we open a section before quoting. Then the material. Then access: a two storey elevation over a slope costs more to work than the same square footage at grade.
We do not publish a price per square foot, because a number that assumes sound sheathing is not a quote, it is a bid you will be asked to change later.
What does the workmanship warranty cover?
EV Roofing & Construction warrants its own workmanship on siding, soffit and fascia for 5 years. Materials and equipment carry the manufacturer’s own warranty. Cover begins at substantial completion. It excludes owner supplied items, normal wear, and damage from deferred maintenance.
